A story of Old Parents

Story of Old Parents

After his father's death, the Son decided to leave his mother at an old age home and visited her on and off.
Once he received a call from the old age home. Your mom is very serious please come and visit her.
So the son went and saw that his mom was very critical and on her dying bed.
He asked: Mom what can I do for you.

Mom replied : "Please install fans in the old age home, as there are none. Also put a fridge for betterment of food because many times I slept without food".

The son was surprised and asked : Mom, while you were here you never complained, but now you have few hours left and you are telling me all this, why?

Mom replied : "It's OK dear, I've managed with the heat, hunger pain, but when your children will send you here, I am afraid you will not be able to manage.!

Worth Pondering!!!

The Cow with the Owner- a story

The Cow with the Owner

The Teacher was walking through the market place with his students. They saw a man dragging a cow by a rope. Teacher told the man to wait and asked his disciples to surround them. "I am going to teach you something" and continued...
"Tell me who is bound to whom? Is the cow bound to this man or the man is bound to the cow?
The students said without hesitation "Of course the cow is bound to the man!. The man is the master. He is holding the rope. The cow has to follow him wherever he goes. The man is the master and the cow is the slave."
"Now watch this", said the teacher and took a pair of scissors from his bag and cut the rope. The cow ran away from the master and the man ran after his cow. "Look, what is happening", said the Teacher .
"Do you see who the Master is? The cow is not at all interested in this man. The cow in fact, is trying to escape from this man." This is the case with our mind.
Like the cow, all the non-sense that we carry inside is not interested in us. We are interested in it, we are keeping it together somehow or the other. We are going crazy trying to keep it all together under our control.
The moment we lose interest in all the garbage filled in our head, and the moment we understand the futility of it, it will start to disappear. Like the cow, it will escape and disappear." We can allow disappearing of all the unwanted things from our mind and feel relaxed.

The Mother Reading Magazine

Moral Story

 The Mother Reading Magazine

A Mother was reading a magazine and her cute little daughter every now and then distracted her.
To keep her busy, she tore one page on which was printed the map of the world.
She tore it into pieces and asked her to go to her room and put them together to make the map again.
She was sure her daughter would take a lot more time and probably whole of day to get it done.
But the little one came back within minutes with perfect map.
When she asked how she could do it so quickly, she said,
"Oh Mom, there is a man';s face on the other side of the paper. I made the face perfect to get the map right." she ran outside to play leaving the mother surprised.
Moral : Perhaps there is always the other side to whatever you experience in this world.
This story indirectly teaches a lesson. That is:
Whenever we come across a challenge or a puzzling situation, Look at the other side...
&
Will be surprised to see an easy way to tackle the problem or an acute difficulty.

Perfection is a Habit

Story : Perfection is a Habit

In some workplaces Perfection is a Habit, not an Attitude!

Apparently, the  American Computer Giant IBM decided to have some parts manufactured in Japan as a trial. In the specifications, they set standard that they will accept only three defective pieces per 10,000 pieces.

When the delivery came to IBM there was a letter accompanying it.

 "We, Japanese people, had a hard time understanding North American business practices. But the three defective parts per 10,000 pieces have been separately manufactured and have been included in the consignment in a separate package mentioned -- ';

Defective pieces as required; not for use.'; Hope this meets your requirement.

The story of Force of Habit

The story of Force of Habit

One day a man found a book in his attic.
The book was so old that the papers were yellow and some of the pages crumbled as he turned them.
He discovered that it was a book on magic but try as he might he could not understand any portion of it except one paragraph. The paragraph stated that on the shores of the Black Sea there was a pebble that could turn anything it was touched to into gold. This pebble, the ancient writer said, could be distinguished from the others only by touching it : unlike the other pebbles it was warm to the touch.
The man went to the shores of the Black Sea and began to search for the pebble.
From morning to night he would pick up pebbles and feel them.
To ensure that he did not pick up the same pebble twice he would fling every pebble he picked up, far out into the sea.
The days stretched into weeks and then into months. A year passed. Then another. The man went on looking for the pebble. But every pebble he picked up was as cold as ice and he flung them away as fast as he picked them. Now he had become so expert at it that he could pick up a pebble and fling it into the sea with one smooth action.
One evening as he was wearily leaving the beach after another day';s search he saw a pebble in front of him.
He picked it up. It was warm. But out of force of habit he flung it far out into the sea!

The Story of The Wise Farmer of China

The Story of The Wise Farmer of China

Many years ago, in a poor Chinese village, there lived a farmer and his son. His only material possession, apart from the land and a small hut, was a horse he had inherited from his father.
One day, the horse ran away, leaving the man with no animal with which to work the land.
His neighbours, who respected him for his honesty and diligence, went to his house to say how much they regretted his loss. He thanked them for their visit, but asked:
"How do you know that what happened was a misfortune in my life?"Someone muttered to a friend: "He obviously doesn';t want to face facts, but let him think what he likes, after all, it';s better than being sad about it."
And the neighbours went away again, pretending to agree with what he had said.
A week later, the horse returned to its stable, but it was not alone; it brought with it a beautiful mare for company.
The inhabitants of the village were thrilled when they heard the news, for only then did they understand the reply the man had given them, and they went back to the farmer';s house to congratulate him on his good fortune.
"Instead of one horse, you';ve got two. Congratulations!" they said.
"Many thanks for your visit and for your solidarity," replied the farmer. "But how do you know that what happened was a blessing in my life?"
The neighbours were rather put out and decided that the man must be going mad, and, as they left, they said: "Doesn';t the man realise that the horse is a gift from God?"
A month later, the farmer';s son decided to break the mare in. However, the animal bucked wildly and threw the boy off; the boy fell awkwardly and broke his leg.
The neighbours returned to the farmer';s house, bringing presents for the injured boy. The mayor of the village solemnly presented his condolences to the father, saying how sad they all were about what had occurred.
The man thanked them for their visit and for their kindness, but he asked:
"How do you know that what happened was a misfortune in my life?"
These words left everyone dumbstruck, because they were all quite sure that the son';s accident was a real tragedy. As they left the farmer';s house, they said to each other: "Now he really has gone mad; his only son could be left permanently crippled, and he';s not sure whether the accident was a misfortune or not!"
A few months went by, and Japan declared war on China. The emperor';s emissaries scoured the country for healthy young men to be sent to the front.
When they reached the village, they recruited all the young men, except the farmer';s son, whose leg had not yet mended.
None of the young men came back alive. The son recovered, and the two horses produced foals that were all sold for a good price.
The farmer went to visit his neighbours to console and to help them, since they had always shown him such solidarity.
Whenever any of them complained, the farmer would say: "How do you know that what happened was a misfortune?"
If someone was overjoyed about something, he would ask: "How do you know that what happened was a blessing?"
And the people of the village came to understand that life has other meanings that go beyond mere appearance. It has to be clearly understood that everything happens with the will of God. Its not by chance or by luck, instead it is as per God';s perfect plan even if we do not understand it.

Story of Two Seeds

Story of Two Seeds

Two seeds lay side by side in the fertile soil.

The first seed said, "I want to grow! I want to send my roots deep into the soil beneath me, and thrust my sprouts through the earth';s crust above me ... I want to unfurl my tender buds like banners to announce the arrival of spring ... I want to feel the warmth of the sun on my face and the blessing of the morning dew on my petals!"

And so she grew...

The second seed said, "I am afraid. If I send my roots into the ground below, I don';t know what I will encounter in the dark. If I push my way through the hard soil above me I may damage my delicate sprouts ... what if I let my buds open and a snail tries to eat them? And if I were to open my blossoms, a small child may pull me from the ground. No, it is much better for me to wait until it is safe."

And so she waited...

A yard hen scratching around in the early spring ground for food found the waiting seed and promptly ate it.

Moral of the Story...Those of us who refuse to risk and grow get swallowed up by life.

A Good MORAL STORY

  A Good MORAL STORY

There once was a king who offered a prize to the artist who would paint the best picture of peace. Many artists tried.  The king looked at all the pictures, but there were only two he really liked and he had to choose between them.

One picture was of a calm lake. The lake was a perfect  mirror, for peaceful towering mountains were all around it.  Overhead was a blue sky with fluffy white clouds. All who saw the picture thought it was a perfect picture of peace.

The other picture had mountains, too. But these were rugged and bare. Above was an angry sky from which rain fell, and in which lightening played. Down the side of the mountain tumbled a foaming waterfall. This did not look peaceful at all. But when the king looked closely, he saw behind the waterfall a tiny bush growing in a crack in the rock. In the bush a mother bird had her nest. There in the midst of the rush of angry water, sat the mother bird on her nest. The king chose the second picture as the winner. "Because,"  explained the king, "peace does not mean to be in a place  where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. Peace means  to be in the midst of all those things and still be calm in
your heart. That is the real meaning of peace."
The Moral of the story

“Real peace is when one can be calm in the midst of  tumultuous surroundings ”

Story of Never Give Up

Story of Never Give Up

Amir Taimur, was someone who was so firm and unfaltering in every predicament, that he did not cower from any misfortune. When the reason for this was sought from him, he said:

"Once, having fled from my enemies and seeking refuge in the ruins of a worn down and dilapidated building,

I was reflecting over my future when my eyes suddenly fell upon a small and weak Ant, carrying a grain bigger than itself, endeavoring to climb to the top of a wall.

"Looking carefully and counting accurately, I found that the grain had dropped from its clutches sixty seven times before the Ant finally managed to make it to the top of the wall with it. The spectacle of this effort on the part of the Ant infused within me strength of such great magnitude that I am never able to forget it."

"I said to myself: O' Taimur! You are by no means inferior to an Ant. Arise and get back to work. I got up and gathered my resolve till I eventually came to acquire the courage that I now possess."

Moral of the Story: Falling down is not defeat...defeat is when you refuse to get up...

The Story of a Donkey

The Story of a Donkey

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.
The Story of a Donkey

He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal,
he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

MORAL:

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping,
never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.

2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happen.

3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.

4. Give more.

5. Expect less

Story of Sharpen your Skills

Story - Sharpen your skills

Once upon a time a very strong woodcutter asked for a job with a timber merchant, and he got it. His salary was really good and so were the working conditions. For that reason, the woodcutter was determined to do his best. His boss gave him an axe and showed him the area where he was supposed to fell the trees. The first day, the woodcutter brought down 15 trees.

" Congratulations," the boss said. " Carry on with your work!"
Highly motivated by the words of his boss, the woodcutter tried harder the next day, but he only could bring 10 trees down. The third day he tried even harder, but he was only able to bring down 7 trees.

Day after day he was bringing lesser number of trees down.
" I must be losing my strength", the woodcutter thought. He went to the boss and apologized, saying that he could not understand what was going on.
" When was the last time you sharpened your axe?" the boss asked.
" Sharpen? I had no time to sharpen my axe. I have been very busy trying to cut trees..."

That's right. Most of us NEVER update our skills. We think that whatever we have learned is very much enough. But good is not good when better is expected. Sharpening our skills from time to time is the key to success.

Story of The Stone On the Road

Story of The Stone On the Road

One day a farmer, walking down the street in a small town came across a large stone in the middle of his path. The farmer complained: "Who could be so careless as to leave such a big stone on the road? Why does someone not remove it?" He went away complaining.

The next day, the same thing happened with a milkman. He too went away grumbling but left the stone as it was. Then one day, a student came across the stone. Worried that someone may fall over it and hurt himself, he decided to push it aside. He pushed long and hard all by himself and eventually managed to remove the stone from the path. He came back and noticed a piece of paper where the stone was kept.
He picked the paper and opened it. Inside was written, "You are the true wealth of this nation."
There are two kinds of people
Talkers and doers.
Talkers merely talk, while doers do.
The moral of this story is that if you don't want to get involved you have no right to criticize. Become the change you wish to see in this world.
Service to society is the rent we pay for the space we occupy on this earth.
